As the amount of time I spend on device increases my productivity decreases. It is also affected by the activity I am doing on device as well.
For my final project I am trying to analyze my productivity level between ranges 0 - 3 and how’s it’s
affected when I use it for a longer time and is it related to the device I am using?
I spent a lot of time on devices throughout the day. Even while working, doing house chores, studying, I am
mostly on multiple devices which sometimes leads to me getting distracted and not be able to fulfill my task
and hence leading to lesser productive day.
I chose scatterplot / bubble chart to visualize my data
because I wanted to focus on multiple aspects and scatterplot allowed me to do so. The way it’s visualized I
can see how much time I spent on a device, with the help of the arc I can figure out my productivity level
and time and content for which the device was used is on x and y axis respectively.
After seeing my visualization I can both agree and disagree with my hypothesis. It’s not true that if I
spend more time on a device the lesser my productivity is. However, my productivity is definitely affected
by the purpose I am using the device for.
When I am listening to songs I have much better productivity level when compared to shifting my focus to
watch something. For example: In the visualization I can see if I am using my laptop and doing assignment
and at the same time my focus is shifted to watching series then my productivity level is either 0 OR 1.
However, if I am doing my assignment and listening to songs my productivity is between 2-3.
I can see I am efficient while doing house chores and I take much lesser time to do them. But when compared
between listening songs and watching something while doing the chores I am much more efficient while
listening to music.
