He observed her with his eyes squinted, trying to see if she might suddenly grow a few more feet.
“Have you stopped growing yet, Grandma?” George asked.
“I don't know, boy!” she screamed back. “But I feel terrific! No pain, nothing! Didn’t I tell you I had magic on the tips of my fingers?!”

He found it hard to believe that his Grandma Kreta could actually look like an ordinary lovable grandma. But up on that roof, she actually did. She was up there for the first time and for once, she was enthusiastic and giddy.
“Are you enjoying the view, Grandma?” George shouted.
“I SURE AM.” she screamed back. "This is even better than making you scrub between my toes!".
Ignoring George's frown over her reply, Grandma took a long breath of fresh air. It had been a decade since she had stepped foot outside! But now, funnily enough, her feet were still very much inside the living room. She could smell the cow poo and other unsavory farm smells wafting through her nostrils. Ah, home.
“I can see the lousy neighbors from up here!” she screamed at George.
“Who, the Spooks?”
“Yes the Spoofs-em-whatevers; they look like tiny ants. Should I stomp them or gobble them? What would be more witchy of the two?”

“What?" Grandma screeched. "That's a load of collywop!”
She wouldn’t believe it for one second. Afterall, children were only good for nothing. But George was determined to prove himself. He ran over to a chicken coop and caught an unsuspecting chicken. He fed it a spoonful of his brown goopy medicine.
Next thing they knew, steam shot out from the chicken’s mouth. It grew bigger and bigger, the size of a horse. But unlike grandma, it didn't grow tall, it stayed nice and plump. Just perfect!
Grandma was flabbergasted. It was a new look for her.

Refusing to give him credit, she made hurried comments and turned a deaf ear to George. In a matter of seconds, she had already recovered from the shock and was busy humming gleefully.
George sighed. There was no winning with her. Instead, he slowly slid away, running back into the farmhouse to carry out some more experiments.
In the meanwhile, Grandma Kreta was prepping herself for her luxury time on the roof. There was just so much to see! She reached into the very hole she smashed open, to whip out her trusty pair of binoculars. She always kept them handy. You never know when things may need some spying on!
"Now then", she chuckled in amusement.

Her gaze drifted through her binoculars, and it eventually fixated on the new chicken that clucked around pecking abnormally large holes in the yard.
“Here chicky chicky chicky...” she whispered to it, her mouth salivating. She couldn’t help it.
Grandma Kreta preferred to dislike things more than she cared to like them.. but farm animals were begrudgingly her only exception. One would think, maybe it was because she grew up on a farm like this? Nope. To her, all farm animals just happened to be clucking, squealing but delicious courses of lunch and dinner... and that’s pretty much all she needed.
This isn’t to say she did not love herself a warm can of worms or a slug or two.. they made a nice salad. But a ham sammy, a nice beef roast, crispy chicken and horse chops? No no no, nothing compared.
It was her well kept secret, especially from George. After all, there weren’t nearly enough farm animals to let ridiculous children feast on them too. God forbid, they would do nothing but grow! She shuddered.

As she heard his explanation, her eyes only grew wider and wider. Her mother screamed from the rooftop
"WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG, KRILLA EVA KRANKY! Have you brought me my celery stick beatles?" She waved her elongated arms at Krilla.

Krilla screamed at husband, repeating the same thing over and over on the phone.
"Killy dear, you need to come home right now! RIGHT NOW!"
Killy Kranky arrived soon after, much to Grandma Kreta's distaste. She considered him an outrageous nonsensical man, but it was safe to say that the nonsensical man didn't care for the batty old mother-in-law either. To him, she was a weird little display piece her wife was overly attached to. It stayed in the living room, even though it would've been better off tucked away in a dingy cupboard.. or maybe in some corner of the attic.
But now here she was, in the attic, in the living room, on the roof. She was everywhere.
His eyes looked unamused with his mother-in-law's condition, but he was quite the opposite when he glanced at the big fat chicken clucking around. There was a spark in his eye; the spark of a new potential business model.
