Located thousands of miles under the ocean surface, you can hear the hum of the ship's engine room.
To call it a ship would be an understatement - this was a gigantic underwater vessel, complete with a solid variety of facilities and windows for viewing the outside, which at the moment was a bit too dark to really appreciate.
As the captain of the small Team Alpha, you know this rusty contraption inside and out. It's been pretty reliable up till now.
Explain1
Explain1.5You're not quite sure, but whatever is lurking around these parts is not exactly the most hospitable creature.
Legends have told of a large seabeast making its home in the vicinity, so you've been a bit tense this whole trip so far.
As you are searching the ocean depths, you see a flash of scales and eyes pass by the window!
NoticeMonster
NoticeMonster
You don't remember?
The search for Team Bravo's missing ship was pretty alarming to you when you first started this mission. There had been reports of a large, unidentified creature lurking near the underwater bases that Team Bravo was stationed at.
However, right now you have more things to worry about than finding the lost crew.
//You're not alone down here in the depths...//
Explain 2Woah hold your horses there!
Let me set the scene first.
The search for Team Bravo's missing ship was pretty alarming to you when you first started this mission. There had been reports of a large, unidentified creature lurking near the underwater bases that Team Bravo was stationed at.
Although the search for the missing crew was important, right now you have more urgent things to attend to. //You're not alone down here...//
As you are searching the ocean depths, you see a flash of scales and eyes pass by the window!
NoticeMonster
NoticeMonster"Jason! I need you to turn on the reserve power and then switch to autopilot!" You instructed your second-in-command.
"You sure Captain?" He responded, currently fiddling with the control system.
You urged him to trust you.
With a flick of a switch, he engaged the reserve power mode, which instantly put the ship into a shut down phase. Although the ship could no longer move around, now the windows and doors shut closed with metal blinders, effectively cutting off visibility and water flow from the outside.
Unfortunately, the ship was still taking on water, but not nearly at the rate it was moments ago.
Under the dim red hazard lights, you could see your 5 other crewmates nervously sweating. Although everyone could now take a quick breather, it was up to you do remedy this situation.
CheckLeak
AbandonShip"Jason!" You called over to your second-in-command.
"Bring us up as close to the surface as you can! We can't take on all this water and pressure at the same time!" You knew it was a risky move, what with that monster still lurking around, but you had to try something!
"But Captain!" Jason didn't even to turn to you as he was too preoccupied with the control scheme.
You urged him to trust you.
As the ship began its ascent upwards, you could hear the metal walls of the vessel screaming under water pressure.
The hulking metal lurched towards the surface, but of course it wouldn't go so smoothly!
//TWAP!!//
Suddenly, the ship's trajectoy was rocketed to the side. It was the sea creature!
Up
Attack
Avoid"I'm sorry everyone." You say without any remorse.
Before anyone had time to react to your cold words, you run to the end of the ship, blocking your fellow crew from following you.
"What are you doing!?" You can hear Jason, your second-in-command, yelling at you from behind the metalic doors you came through.
Their cries of confusion quickly turn to frustration and anger as you refuse to open the door to them.
Now was your last chance to get out of there through the escape pods, but you would be abandoning your crewmates...
Stay
Escape2You decide the ship is your only way out of here and the water damage might not be too bad.
As you crew wades through the water, which is now knee height, you enter the engine room.
Under the glow of the red emergency lights you can see bubbles rising in the corner of the room, indicating where the leak is.
How are you going to fix this though?
SealLeak
BlockLeak
You explain that the ship is beyond saving, and that you needed to just get out of there as quickly as possible before the situation gets any worse.
As you all run to the escape pods, you find that they are all thankfully still working. It's a good thing you made up your mind quickly, the sanctity of the ship is long gone and anything could happen at this point.
Getting on your wet suits as fast as possible, you make plans to reconvene with your crew.
"Everyone, we will need to meet up on the surface. Avoid the monster at all costs and don't look back," you advise. "See you all on the other side."
With a nod, your crewmates each climb into their own pod and AbandonShip2
You decide to ignore the monster completely, focusing on your escape instead!
Unfortunately, you underestimated how agile the monster could be, and you aren't able to outrun it in your damaged ship.
The tentacle rises up and smacks into your ship again!
Your ship spins around and throws you all to the ground.
The water level has now risen to your waist, and as you pick yourself up from the slippery floor you decide on how to engage next.
Attack
AvoidYou decide to tell Jason to look out for any sudden attacks and to instead head out straight instead of upwards.
As your ship zooms farther and farther away from the black mass behind you, you are able to warn Jason over the comms of any attacks coming up.
He swerves the ship to the side, narrowly dodging another otherwise fatal attack.
You find refuge by ducking above and then past a huge rock jutting out from the ocean floor.
You hear the monster shriek at you from behind but have finally gained some signifcant distance from it.
Surface
AttackSeeing no other option, you run over to the control panel alongside Jason.
Finding the only button that's covered, you flip open the lid and press it aggressively.
"NOW ENGAGING BATTLE MODE," a loud automated voice booms through crackled speakers.
The ship's front and sides open up to reveal several underwater weaponry, such as a harpoon and some guns.
Harpoon
ShootWow.
You are //cold-hearted.//
And a coward.
You're a lot of things really, but a sitting duck you are not!
As you strap in to the nearest escape pod, you pull the level which propels your pod away from the sinking ship a burst of air bubbles.
What do you have to say for yourself?
NoRegret
GuiltyWell you already ran to where the escape pods are, so this is a bit awkward.
You turn around and open the door, telling your crew you had an idea to use the escape pods to distract the sea monster, but they don't really seem to buy it.
Before they can argue with you about what you were just trying to do, the ship violently rocks to the side, the sound of metal screaming.
You decide to set aside your embarrassment and calmly tell your crew to AttemptSurface
Necessary eh?
Well you certainly made your decision.
Your pod's small front light turns on, revealing the empty and cold waters surrounding you. It's eerily peaceful as opposed to the rushing water, blaring lights, and cries for help you were just experiencing.
The sputtering of the pod's engine and your own heartbeat were the only sources of noise that could comfort you now.
As you steer towards the surface, a large and dark tentacle abruptly snatches your pod!
You can hear the metal being squeezed, and see the surface pull away from you as you sink back towards the depths.
BadEnd1
What do you mean "kinda"?? You left them all for dead!
No matter, you got what you wanted, didn't you?

Before you, a looming silhouette opens it's enourmous maw, layered with rows upon rows of steely white fangs.
With a loud //CRUNCH// your vision turns to black.
You become the monster's next meal, never knowing what fate ultimately befell the crew you mercilessly left behind.
I guess karma got the best of you, in the end.

Good thing you bought a whole bunch of that FlexTape stuff the other week.
Time to see if those commercials have been lying to you this whole time or not.
As your crew looks very confused as you pull a roll of FlexTape out of your pocket, they watch you tear off a piece and dive under the water.
You slap that bad boy right on where all the water pressure seems to be the strongest, pushing your hand against the metal to make sure it's secured.
Gasping for air, you surface and take a second to get your barings straight.
Somehow.... that worked!
The water level isn't going up anymore and your crew lets out a sigh of relief in unison.
As you make your way back to the control room, you guys buckle up and prepare to GoodEnd1. Looking around the room, you find some thick burlap sacks sitting by the wall. They appear quite heavy as they aren't floating or moving much despite the commotion happening.
"Help me move these!" You signal to your crew.
With a bit of effort, you all work to move the bags to where you presume the water is leaking in from.
Despite your best efforts to push the bags into the opening, the water pressure is too great and water keeps spilling into the ship. The flow of water isn't as strong or fast as it was, but this is hardly a solution.
Before you have anymore time to think of a better solution, the ship is quickly grabbed by a large tentacle and is yanked downwards. The force of the sea creature's grip only forces more water into the sinking ship.
"The water level isn't going down, Captain!"
"What are we going to do now!?"
Pods
ReleaseGripPushing the ship into overdrive, you and your team make your escape! Before long, can see the sunlight peak through the waves at the surface.
As you look behind you, the shadowy silhouette begins to get smaller and smaller. It's long tentacles shoot up in an attempt to ensare you, but you are able to swerve and narrowly avoid its reach.
Its red eyes glow diminish in the dark depths and it seems like its finally given up on eating you as its meal.
"We did it!" Your crew excitedly shouts for joy, and you have never felt so thankful for fresh air.

The water has now risen to your shoulders, and you splash around trying to keep your heads above the water.
"Swim to the escape pods! It's our last hope!" You manage to sputter between breaths of air and water.
Your crew swims below the surface to go back out through the doorframes and despite the darkness, you're able to make your way to the pods.
Unfortunately, it seems there's only 1 working pod left that hasn't been smashed in by the monster or filled with water.
Together
Alone"There's no way we can fix that right now... we need to try and disengage from the monster before we get dragged down any further!" You yell, taking initiative.
Your crew members push back, it seems they're split on trying to fix the water or to fight off the monster.
Your crew stays back to continue trying to block the water as you and Jason run back to the control room.
"Bring us up as close to the surface as you can! We can't take on all this water and pressure at the same time!" You knew it was a risky move, what with that monster still lurking around, but you had to try something!

The hulking metal slowly but steadly started to lurch towards the surface, but now you were not only fighting the water but also the strength of the monster.
Attack"We can all try to fit into this one!" You say desperately.
"But we're 5 people Captain!" Jason objects, but offers no other solution.
"We have to try..."
You reach down to pull open the pod door. Unfortunately, it was only really made for 1 person, and as soon as the seal on the door is released, a rush of water fills the pod up. As you and a few of your crew try to fit in, you ultimately are unable to close the door again in a sea of limbs and rushing water.
The pod becomes unusable and you all swim back out to the surface, looking disheartened.
Apologize
Angry"I'm sorry everyone." You say without any remorse.
Before they have a chance to talk about what to do, you hold your breath, swim under the water, and squeeze into the pod. You aren't able to prevent water from entering with you, but through sheer force you manage to close the door before it fills up all the way.
Your crewmates share a frightened look amongst themselves, and attempt to follow you.
You can see them banging on the glass, begging you to let them in. Their looks of confusion quickly turn to frustration and anger as you refuse to open the door to them.
What do you have to say for yourself?
NoRegret

Just then, a giant tentacle reaches out and latches itself onto Jason's escape pod!
SaveJason
SaveYourselfYou silently apologize to Jason, and instead pull away from him and the monster.
You know for a fact that Jason would make a great distraction (and delicious snack) for the monster, which would give you just enough time to make it to the surface on your own.
You MixedEnding towards the surface, not looking back. Gripping the wheel tightly, you make a hard turn and steer your vessel into the large tentacle that is holding onto Jason's pod.
You're able to nudge the tentcle and loosen it's grip, but you're not sure how much damage your pod can survive if you keep doing this...
SaveJason2
SaveYourselfOnce again, you slam your escape pod into the side of the tentacle, and finally it releases its grasp on Jason!
However, it appears your pod wasn't really meant for attacking monsters, and the ship is struggling to move. Glaring lights flash around you and the ship begins to take on more water!
A second tentacle shoots up, and you're unable to dodge it!
It starts pulling you down now instead, and you see Jason's pod rise up further and further to the surface...
SelfExplode
MonsterTakesYouWith a splash of water, the hull of your vessel bobs atop the waves of the surface.

You can hear something screaming from below you, but you don't dare to look towards it.
It seems you managed to hurt it, but that only makes it more angry.
You then push the button again to Pull
The guns turn to the monster's tentacles and through flashes of light and bubbles you can see the bullets flying out.
A few of them are able to pierce into the tentcle, and they end up ripping up the tentacle to shreds.
Whisps of blood soak the water and it starts to retract. As Jason regains control of the ship, you hastily heads towards the surface.
With one last effort, the monster shrieks and reaches out again.
Laser
The hook of the harpoon snags onto the tentacle, pulling it towards you this time.

Reserve
AttemptSurface
Escape"What is it Captain?" says Jason, the crew's second in command. "We've already been down here for ages but nothing of interest has been spotted. No signs from Team Bravo yet either."
Perhaps it was the light playing a trick on you, but whatever it was, it was not an ordinary fish.
Maybe you're just a little jumpy, or anxious because you've been stuck under the murky depths for well over 7 hours now.
You're not making that much progress a this rate. Although Team Bravo is important to you, you're not sure how much longer your team can afford spending time looking for them.
Everyone is tired an exhausted and you can see it from their faces alone.
Lie
Truth
"You're right, I'm really tired so I'm probably just seeing things..." You say, hoping that your suggestion is actually correct.
You constantly check through the windows though for any sudden movements or dark shadows as you can't shake of this uneasy feeling.
ContinueSearch"Oh no, maybe those rumors of a hideous sea monster had some credibility after all...?" Jason and the rest of your crew deliberate, unsure of what to do next.
You're aware that Team Bravo's recent dissappearance is simply the tip of the iceberg. Several ships, subs, and swimmers have gone missing in the past 6 months, particularly around the area you're currently investigating.
Suddenly you can feel a tremor rock through the currents, forcefully pushing your ship off course a little.
It would be a bit dangerous to continue any farther, but you need to find Team Bravo...
LeaveRightAway
ContinueSearch"Everyone...I'm making an executive decision...We're going back to HQ."
Your crew gives you a bit of pushback but they know that you're doing this for their safety.
Besides, the ship is not invincible. Although it's got all of the state-of-the-art technology and weaponry on its side, if there really even is a monster then who knows what it's capable of.
It's been 7 hours or longer and still no sign of Team Bravo. At this rate you'll also run out of fuel and resources before you even get a sign.
AgainstCurrent
WithCurrentWith a collective nod, your crew works together to navigate the ship through the current, where it leads you through a winding passage in the depths of a cliff face.
The ship's been put into neutral and it drifts along the water current.
Several minutes pass through the dark tunnels until it opens out wider again to a fork in the road. A stream of light from a hole at the ceiling of the rock barely illuminates the tunnel below.
The path on the left is where the current continues, but starts to get more narrow. The path on the right is wider but there's no current in that direction.

Before long, the walls of rock and coral are right against the sides of the ship. However, only path now is GoodbyeBravoVeering the ship towards the right you make your way through the passage with less water flow.
Thankfully, the tunnel does not flare or narrow, and so your ship is able to travel through in relative peace.
Up ahead you notice a blockade of thick seaweed and underwater plant growth. No wonder the water flow this way has slowed.
It'll take a bit of time to get through but your ship is equipped with some handy tools if you want to cut through the bloackade.
BackToLeft
ThroughBlockadeAs you look and look, you still can't seem to find any leads on where Team Bravo could have disappeared to.
It's already been more than 7 hours at this point, and you're unsure if it'll be advisable to continue at this rate any longer. The crew is exhausted, the fuel is running low, and you've still got this uneasy feeling you're being watched.
You can always search for them again another time, but you also know time is of the essence. They could still be alive, struggling to survive right now.
Up ahead you can see a huge rock formation jutting out from the ground. There's a clear opening where the current is flowing inside.
You don't really have any other leads at the moment, so maybe it's worth a shot looking here.
CaveSystem v1The flow of water begins to pick up though, and right as your ship feels like it's brushing against the sides of the metal hull, your ship finally emerges out the other side!
You exit the tunnels to be greeted with wide open ocean once again. Looking back you can see the large rock formation you just passed through.

On your radar you can see that you're on your way out of the search zone and back to HQ. With that, you navigate your way to the surface out of harms way for a well deserved rest. <</if>><<if visited("CaveSystem v1")>>
You traversed the maze inside of the cave but found nothing of interest. After a few more hours of futile searching, you can't seem to make any progress. Your fuel tank starts to empty and you decide it's best to head back to the surface to continue the search another day.

"Guys we're making a U-turn, let's get back to that other passage, this one's no good." You command the ship to LeftPassage
Turning on the self-defensive mode of the vehicle, the ship pulls out a trusty little saw blade from it's side.
Although it takes a bit of time, you're able to clear the vines and seaweed to discover a small alcove. More light shines in from small openingins in the ceiling of the rock.
As you look closer below you...
You see the wreckage of Team Bravo's ship!! It's tattered and broken and only rubble and debris is littered across the sandy floor of the cave. Fragments of glass and metal glitter in the light from the surface.
But how did it get here?
Before you can think twice, you see a pair of Monster
You advise your crew to try and make a simple turnaround and head back the opposite direction, however you soon find that the water current is more forceful than you had anticipated.
Your ship gets sucked into an opening in the cliff face where the current is heading, and you're forced to quite literally CaveSystem v2.
Although it's a bit of a rocky start, your crew works together to get your bearings straight again.

The path on the left is where the current continues, but starts to get more narrow. The path on the right is wider but there's no current in that direction.

RightPassageAs you make your way to the mouth of the cave, you can feel a the current of the water leading you inside.

RightPassageYou figure you should at least attempt to do some lasting harm to the monster or kill if it you can.
In your final moments you engage the self-destruct protocol in the ship.
In a matter of minutes the ship detonates and ploom of water and steam erupts towards the surface of the water. Thankfully for you, inside the pod the explosion was instantaneous, and you feel no pain as you are englufed in a sea of flame and water.
In the end you were able to save your crew, but at the expense of yourself. At least thankful that everyone else was able to make it out.

In your final moments you decide to be practical and send out distress signals back to HQ. Turning on the recording system, you take as much video footage of the monster as you can.
The metal starts to cave in on itself as the tentacles of the monster crush the ship into oblivion.

As it rears its ugly head you can see it's disgusting appearance.
It's got the head of a flounder, the jaws of an eel, and rows upon rows of teeth similar to that of a shark.
Its body is some sort of Lovecraftian horror. It's got tentacles sprouting from it's lower abdomen and an even larger stinger in the back for its tail.
TryEscape
TryEngage
InvestigateThe monster hasn't made a move yet, in fact it appears to be observing you with its huge beady eyes.
You tell Jason to scan the floor of the seabed using the sensor under the ship.
"Don't move the ship at all though, we don't want to startle that...thing over there...We can use this opportunity to gather some data on that wreckage below us though."
"Right away sir!" Jason and the crew flick on a few switches and immediately a screen of the sand below them becomes visible.
The fish-thing starts inching a bit closer however as soon as the scanning light turns on.
It doesn't seem particularly interested in the wreckage but instead seems agitated by the light and sound from your ship. It starts to shake its head rather violently.
Scan
TryEscapeDespite the frantic nature of the monster in front of you, the scanning continues.
Finally after several minutes your ship downloads several pieces of information regarding the wreckage.
Data suggests that the wreckage does indeed belong to Team Bravo! It was attack by an unspecified entity, which you can now only presume is the monster, and was unable to fend for itself. In its final moments it seems Team Bravo was able to send out a call for help but not much else.
Before you're able to do much else, the monster lets out a high-pitched shriek and rushes towards your ship!
With a //CRASH!!// the monster hits your ship dead on, causing critical damage to the ship. As the water is now rising to your feet, you quickly make an executive decision to your crewmates:
Reserve
AttemptSurface
Escape
